Big announcements for the 2027 ODI Cricket World Cup
Preparations for the 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup have begun. South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will jointly host the tournament. Cricket South Africa has announced the stadiums selected for the mega event, which will host a total of 54 matches. This year, South Africa and Zimbabwe will jointly host the ODI World Cup, while Namibia will host the tournament for the first time.
These stadiums will host matches–
South Africa will host 44 matches while the remaining 10 will be played in Zimbabwe and Namibia. Eight South African stadiums have been selected, including Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town, Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban, Centurion Park in Pretoria, Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, St George’s Park in Gkeberha, and Buffalo in East London Park and Bowland Park in Pearl. All these grounds are known for their excellent facilities and historical importance.
Former South African Finance Minister Trevor Manuel will head the local organizing committee. The South African matches will be played in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gkeberha, Bloemfontein, East London and Pearl, the CSA said in a statement. “The CSA aims to host a global, inspiring, diverse, inclusive and united event that reflects the face of South Africa,” said CSA Chairperson Pearl Maphos.

The tournament will be held in the following format:
The 2027 World Cup will feature 14 teams, and will have the same format as the 2003 World Cup. There will be two groups, each with seven teams. South Africa hosted the tournament in 2003 along with Zimbabwe and Kenya. The Australian team won the title here.
