Perched high above mist-covered valleys, Nongjrong is home to just around 1,440 people. The village has long remained off the tourist map, preserving its simple Khasi traditions and rural lifestyle. Surrounded by verdant hills, waterfalls, and rolling clouds, it offers a rare escape for those seeking solitude and unspoiled nature.
One of Nongjrong’s main attractions is its early-morning view. As the sun rises, the valleys below are often blanketed with thick clouds, creating the impression that the village itself floats above the sky. Nearby, the Nongjrong Falls cascade down lush forests, adding to the destination’s appeal.
How to Reach:
By Road: Nongjrong lies about 50 km from Shillong, roughly a two-hour drive through winding hill roads. From Guwahati, the journey takes around 4–5 hours.

Best Time to Visit
October to May is considered the ideal season to experience Nongjrong’s sunrises and scenic charm. Heavy monsoon rains can make the journey challenging.
