Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan is all set to receive his first-ever National Film Award at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony in New Delhi on Tuesday. The actor has been named Best Actor for his performance in the 2023 blockbuster Jawan, sharing the honour with Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail.

This recognition comes after Shah Rukh’s three-decade-long journey from Delhi theatre to becoming a global superstar. Ahead of the presentation, Information and Broadcasting Ministry secretary Sanjay Jaju hailed the actor, calling his career “a story in itself” and describing him as “the man whose smile has crossed borders.”

Shah Rukh, seen in a black suit with a salt-and-pepper look, acknowledged the praise with a smile and a flying kiss as the audience cheered.
The ceremony will also honour Rani Mukerji with the Best Actress award for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, while veteran actor Monalal will be presented with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Shah Rukh’s upcoming film, King, directed by Siddharth Anand, will see him share the screen with Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, and his daughter Suhana Khan.
